Rodin is without doubt one of the greatest sculptors of recent times (all time?). My second attempt at Le Penseur was a test to see if I could carve the human form in stone and an experiment to see whether I would enjoy intricate carving in contrast to my previous work. It was undoubtedly a huge challenge to control the tools adequately so as to work a single block down to the correct proportions just using my eye and not the point system. In conclusion; it is at the end of the day a copy and although beautiful to look at and a pleasing outcome not one that compels me to want to repeat it.
