soft shell
This piece is part of a series of work called “Carving for Colour” where I use the stone as my colour palette and try and carve a form that creates different colours and tones using the stone’s properties. The creative process started in this instance with the selection of the stone for its colouration, integrity and translucency. Bringing together all the elements of colour, form, texture, light and presentation has created a multi-sensory piece that has anthropomorphic qualities and compels you to want to touch and interact, what sculpture should be about in my humble opinion.
