A Hindu or Jain holy person who lives a simple lifestyle, has very few possessions and wears their hair in thick dreadlocks called jata. They are solely dedicated to achieving moksa (liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth) surviving on food and drink donated by others. I've tried to capture the intensity of their eyes and being lost in a world of deep meditation. I've also managed to exploit the properties of alabaster to represent the colour and textural contrast between the face and hair.
