This series of work seeks to play with the association and meaning colours and forms have and to align or create conflict between them. Form can suggest colour by what it might resemble and colour can imply meaning by association and through social norms.

I've has used a white sculptural form as a blank canvas and applied paint in different styles and using different painting techniques with some pieces taking inspiration from other artists such as Howard Hodgkin, Francis Bacon and Anish Kapoor. The white forms have become more organic, anthropomorphic or sinister as they have acquired a new coat.

On some pieces the painted design and its formal attributes alter as the viewer moves around the piece, experiencing different colour combinations and compositions. In effect the form of the painting has been combined with the sculptural form each complementing and enhancing the other.

On others the applied colour forces the viewer to reinterpret the form or to see something differently by playing with reflected light and shadow. Some pieces are left as blank canvases or white classical sculptures begging the question; what colour to apply?
