Stone - 24 Jul to 17 Sep 2021
Stone is a unique exhibition being held at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery that brings together some of my stone carvings and photographs. The exhibition runs from 24th July through to 17th September in the East wing of the gallery and is definitely worth a visit.
The works in stone explore 2 main themes, faces and forms and are carved in an array of beautiful materials including pink alabaster, limestone and blue marble. Many of the forms take inspiration from natural shapes and processes such as erosion. The photographs complement the textures, colours and themes of the stone sculpture and capture the feeling of standing at the waters edge with the sun on your back and watching the waves gently lap over the shells and pebbles on the beach.
If you have been down to have a look I would be grateful if you could provide any feedback in the comments boxes on this page or below any of the descriptions of the displayed works in the following pages.
Many thanks
Steve
